Gonzaga vs Syracuse Betting Preview

The Bulldogs held Seton Hall to 52 points and Utah to 59, in large part by limiting the stars. Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead was forced into 4-for-24 shooting by the ‘Zags and Utah’s prolific post player, Jakob Poeltl, managed five points.

Syracuse gave up just 51 points to Dayton and only 50 to Middle Tennessee. The total for Friday’s matchup at the Midwest Regional opened at 135. It can be surpassed if Gonzaga takes advantage of the 2-3 zone defense that Syracuse employs. They should be able to get second shots with easy put backs & kick outs for threes. Look for Domantas Sabonis to have a big game against the Syracuse zone defense. Gonzaga ranked 37th in the Country in three-point percentage and those kick outs on offensive rebounds are a specialty of the Bulldogs.

Syracuse defensive stats received some help by playing a poor shooting Middle Tennessee team. Against Gonzaga they will not be able to hold down the Bulldogs offense and will be forced to more aggressive on the offensive end. Both teams play to the over on neutral sites ( Gonzaga Over is 6-1 in Bulldogs last 7 neutral site games.) & ( Syracuse Over is 11-3-1 in Orange last 15 neutral site games). Taking the Zags and the over in a game that should exceed the total by 10+ points.

Score Prediction: Gonzaga 78 – Syracuse 68
