Pittsburgh Panthers vs Penn State Lions Prediction
When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 9, 2017
Where: Beaver Stadium, University Park, Pennsylvania
LINE: Penn State -21
TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC.
Pittsburgh Panthers (1-0):
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi, whose team beat FCS Youngstown State in overtime last week willneed a much better performance to even stay close to Penn State. The Panthers quarterback Max Browne (17-for-24, 140 yards, one TD) in the season opener but this week he will be under real pressure and I expect a few interceptions.
Penn State Lions (1-0):
Saquon Barkley found the end zone five times against the Panthers in 2016. Last week he ran for 172 yards and two TDs in the rout of Akron. Quarterback Trace McSorley threw for 280 yards and two scores. Tight end Mike Gesicki had both TD receptions from McSorley and has scored in four straight games dating back to last season.
Pittsburgh vs Penn State Pick:
The Lions are back and this is a chance to let the nation know it. Pittsburgh will not be able to stop the Penn State rushing game and they will just pound away all game long. On offense, Pittsburgh can score some but once they are down and one dimensional they will be easy pickings for the Lions defense. Rout….and a cover for Penn State
Penn State -21
Oklahoma Sooners vs Ohio State Buckeyes Prediction
When: 7:30 PM ET, Saturday, September 9, 2017
Where: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio
LINE: Ohio State -7.5
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC.
Oklahoma Sooners (1-0):
Against UTEP, the Sooners’ three quarterbacks completed 32 of their 36 pass attempts for a total of 496 yards. When Oklahoma wanted to run the ball they had no problem with sophomore running back Abdul Adams (53 yards), junior Marcelias Sutton (52, touchdown) and freshman Trey Sermon (51). Senior edge rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo led the Oklahoma defense with four tackles and a sack against UTEP.
Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0):
Weber ran for 1,096 yards last year as a freshman, practiced fully this week and is expected to add to a rushing attack that averaged 5.7 yards per carry and three touchdowns last week. Barrett completed 20-of-35 passes against Indiana. The Buckeyes’ defense stepped up in the second half allowing just seven points and All-American candidate senior defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis finished with a pair of sacks.
Oklahoma vs Ohio State Prediction
Last week Ohio State ran away from Indiana in the second half. That won’t happen this week as they go against an Oklahoma team that will be able to stay in the game for four quarters. The Oklahoma passing attack will keep this game close and while I still like the Buckeyes to win this game. As long as I can get 7.5 or more points I am on the dog. Should be a fun game to watch and I really like an offensive shootout.
Auburn Tigers vs Clemson Tigers Prediction
When: 7:00 PM ET, Saturday, September 9, 2017
Where: Clemson Memorial Stadium, Clemson, South Carolina
LINE: Clemson -6
TV: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN.
Auburn Tigers (1-0):
Auburn held Georgia Southern to 78 total yards while the Tigers offense racked up 535 total yards without star running back Kamryn Pettway, who served a one-game suspension. Pettway might have to carry the load with Kerryon Johnson nursing a leg injury after rushing for 136 yards and a score last week.
Clemson Tigers (1-0):
Clemson rolled up 665 total yards in a 56-3 win over Kent State last week. Quarterback Kelly Bryant debut as the starter (16-for-22 for 236 passing yards) couldn’t have been better. The Tigers also ran for 353 yards. On defense they allowed only 120 total yards and just one pass completion for one yard.
Auburn vs Clemson Prediction
Both teams have the “cupcake game” stats to build on. This week we will see what both teams are made of and I think both of the are good teams. I like a good old fashioned SEC dog fight to break out. The key here is that both teams can score and while by no means do I think it will be a shootout. I do like it to be close to the end. The spread went from 5 to 6 as the “sharps” have put money down on the Clemson Tigers. Good. I don’t give a rats ass about this “sharp” vs “square” BS. I just like watching the spread move in my favor as I will be taking the dog. I will be waiting to see if I can get more than 6 but if it looks like the spread starts to go down I will pound it at +6.
