Orioles vs Rays Prediction 07-15-16
MLB Preview Orioles vs Rays
The Orioles won four of their last five games before the All-Star break to take a two-game lead over both Boston and Toronto, while the Rays have lost 22 of 25. This will be a great chance for the Baltimore Orioles hope to build on their lead in the American League East as they visit the struggling Tampa Bay Rays on Friday for the opener of a three-game series.
Baltimore trails the Red Sox and Blue Jays in runs scored this season, however they lead all of the MLB with 137 homers. Jonathan Schoop enters Friday with a nine-game hitting streak and Adam Jones has hit safely in eight in a row for the Orioles while Manny Machado is 13-for-38 with three homers against the Rays this year. Tampa Bay continued its bad play by losing six straight before the All Star game. Tampa is 2-7 against Baltimore in 2016 after getting swept in a four-game series from June 24-26.

Orioles RH Yovani Gallardo (3-1, 5.82 ERA) vs
Rays RH Chris Archer (4-12, 4.66)
Gallardo is unbeaten in five starts (2-0) since coming off the disabled list and has allowed three or fewer runs in four of those games. However, he has struggled with his control, walking 16 in a total of 25 1/3 innings. Gallardo gave up three runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings and had a no-decision against Tampa Bay on June 24. He is 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA in four career games versus the Rays.
Archer is making his 20th start of the season. He has lost five straight decisions after giving up five runs and seven hits over six innings against Boston in his last start. Chris Archer recorded 130 strikeouts in 110 innings but has made it past the 6th inning just once in his last five games.

Orioles vs Rays Game Prediction
Baltimore is No. 5 in MLB in offense at 5.08 runs per game. Tampa Bay is now No. 27 in MLB at 3.91 runs per game, and its pitching hasn’t been much better. The Rays are No. 12 in the American League with a team ERA of 4.57, just one complete game and 35 quality starts. The biggest disappointment has been projected ace Chris Archer (4-12, 4.66 ERA), who was an All Star last season but enters the second half leading the majors in losses. The Rays have lost six straight games started by Archer, who has given up four or more earned runs in half of his past 10 starts. I love Chris Archer…not in that way but, in a money way. Every year there are three or four pitchers who are overrated and they are the ones who can build a bankroll. Just keep betting against Archer. He is a five inning pitcher on a bad offense that has below average relievers.
