San Diego Padres at St Louis Cardinals Prediction

San Diego Padres at St Louis Cardinals Predictions

A  10-2 loser in the series opener, San Diego will play a day-night doubleheader versus the Cardinals on Wednesday to make up for the Tuesday night rain out. While Tuesday’s scheduled starters, San Diego’s Colin Rea and St. Louis’ Carlos Martinez, will start in the day game. San Diego decided to shuffled their rotation and will go with reliever Paul Clemens in the night tame.  The Cardinals have not been a good home team with only 21 wins in 49 home games. They trail the first-place Chicago Cubs by 7 1/2 games in the National League Central and do not have much of a chance of catching them if they can’t win most of their home games. San Diego opened the second half of the season with three straight wins before Monday nights loss. Not unusual for the Padres, since they have a 10-26 at the new Busch Stadium.

San Diego opted to push back Andrew Cashner for the series finale and give the ball to Clemens, who has made three relief appearances spanning 3 1/3 innings since he was claimed off waivers from Miami. Clemens made a pair of starts for the Marlins last month, going five innings in each and allowing totals of seven runs and 11 hits. He was stung by the long ball. Padres vs Cardinals Prediction

The Cardinals beat the Padres 4-2 in the day game and are looking to sweep the Padres and pick up some ground on the Cubs. Lets face it, if you can’t beat the Padres at home then you shouldn’t be in the playoffs. It is hard to back a mediocre pitcher in Garcia. He really just hasn’t been that good lately. This is more of a bet against the Padres than it is on the Cardinals. Clemens should be able to get 3 solid innings in. Then what? The price is a bit steep at -200 but, the run line has some value at (-110).  This is a game that if St Louis wins. They should be able to run away with it. Taking the Cardinals on the run line at (-1.5) for (-110).  I will also be looking to make a live bet. If the Padres can get an early run then I will be able to take the Cardinals with better odds.

Score Prediction:
Cardinals 8 – Padres 3
