Toronto Blue Jay vs Oakland Athletics Pick

Blue Jays vs Athletics Pick

The Toronto Blue Jays finished the first-half on a roll and are on top of the American League East. However, they have ran into a hot Oakland team after the All-Star break and dropped a pair of in Oakland. They try to avoid the sweep Sunday afternoon against the Athletics. The Blue Jays were not blown out as both games were decided by one run. In yesterdays game, Oakland scored four early runs and tacked on a solo home run from Khris Davis, (his second of the game) to win on Saturday with a 5-4 score. Khris Davis has started the second half of the season hot as he also homered in Friday’s series opener. If you play daily fantasy baseball the he is a lock as he has gone deep in each of his last three games against Toronto.

Toronto vs Oakland 07-17-16 Game Prediction

Oakland homered six times in the first two games of its series with Toronto, winning both and helping send both Over the total. The high scores won’t continue today for either side. Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ (12-3, 3.36 ERA) and Athletics starter Rich Hill (9-3, 2.25 ERA) are tough lefties who enter Sunday’s game looking like they are in top form. Happ has a 2.95 ERA and 41 strikeouts over his last six starts. Hill has allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine of his past 10 starts. This is a contest that features two starters in the top 12 in ERA among AL starters.

The Under is 4-0 in Hill’s last four starts overall, and 9-3 in Happ’s last 12 road starts. In addition, the Under is 6-2 in umpire Paul Emmel’s last eight games behind the plate. My primary pick is on the under with a smaller bet on Oakland to sweep. I don’t like taking teams to sweep against teams with winning records but the Jays just are not the same team on the road and Oakland has been a streaky team this year. Right now the Athletics are on a hot streak and there is money to be made when teams with losing records get hot.
