Green Bay Packers vs Dallas Cowboys Preview

The Green Bay Packers had a four-game losing streak and Aaron Rodgers claimed the Packers could “run the table” in order to gain its eighth straight playoff appearance. Six victories to end the regular season and a convincing rout of the Giants in the wild-card game have the Packers surging into the NFC Divisional Round for Sunday’s game with the well-rested Dallas Cowboys.

Rodgers threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns, three of the touchdowns passes were to wideout Randall Cobb, in a 38-13 victory over the New York Giants last Sunday. While Dallas liberally has rested its stars dating back to a Week 17 loss to Philadelphia, its rookie Pro Bowl tandem of quarterback Dak Prescott and tailback Ezekiel Elliott (NFL-best 1,631 yards, 5.1 per carry) shredded Green Bay at Lambeau Field in a 30-16 victory on Oct. 16. Prescott threw for three touchdowns while Elliott ran over the Packers’ then top-ranked rush defense for 157 yards in the win.

Green Bay Packers (11-6):

Rodgers remains confident facing Dallas’ 26th-ranked pass defense despite potentially playing without trusted wideout Jordy Nelson (NFL-leading 14 receiving TDs), who sustained a rib injury early in the wild-card game. Davante Adams set career highs with 75 catches, 997 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and had seven receptions for 117 yards and a score in a postseason encounter with Dallas two years ago. Cobb made eight catches for 116 yards in that playoff game versus the Cowboys and showed his ankle is fully healed.

Dallas Cowboys (13-3):

Cowboys rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott will be playing in their first playoff game. Although this is their first playoff game, they do have home field advantage and they did beat the Packers in week 6. In the game, their offense had 424 total yards and their defense caused four turnovers (three fumbles and one interception).

Dak Prescott has an impressive 23 touchdown and 4 interception ratio. He also averaged 229.2 YPG. When he played against Green Bay in week 6 he had three touchdowns, while Elliot rushed for 157 yards on 5.6 yards per carry.

The defense however, maybe a problem. The Cowboys are in the league’s bottom seven of giving up passing yards (260.4 yards per game, 26th overall). Also, the strength of the Cowboy’s defense is stopping the run but the Packers do not run that much anyway.

Packers vs Cowboys Betting Prediction:

This should be the best game of the weekend. Two of the top franchises in the NFL go at. A rookie starting QB for Dallas and a past NFL MVP & Super Bowl Champion for Green Bay. Who will prevail? Last week I watched the Packers disamantle a team that beat the Cowboys twice. The New York Giants secondary was supposed to be on of the best in the NFL. Actually it is and Aaron Rodgers still took it apart. The Cowboys secondary is not even close to the Giants and will get shredded by the Packers. On the other side of the ball the Cowboys have the most balanced offense in the NFL. The will be able to move the ball against Green Bay. This game should be close all the way to the fourth quarter. In the end I am placing my money on the veteran to win the game in the fourth quarter.

Bets: 75% on The Packers +4.5 & 25% on Packers money line
