Carolina was a 40-7 loser in its last match on the road against the Seahawks. They failed to cover the +9-point spread as underdogs, while the total score of 47 sent OVER bettors to the payout window.

San Diego lost its last outing, a 28-21 result against the Buccaneers on December 04. The Chargers failed to cover in that game as a -3-point favorite, while the 49 combined points took the game PUSH the total.

San Diego: (5-7 SU,7-5 ATS)

Once again the Chargers were in the lead for most of the game against the visiting Bucs but, they rallied their way to their fourth-consecutive victory, 28-21 in defeating the Chargers.

San Diego, which held a 14-7 advantage at the break, ultimately lost the game because of a pair of turnovers by Philip Rivers. The veteran quarterback threw for two touchdowns, but was faulted for two interceptions, including a crucial one in the final minutes of fourth period.

The Bolts dropped to 5-7 with the loss and are likely to miss the postseason for the third-straight year even if they win their final four games. San Diego is 2-3 SU and 3-2 ATS in its last five road games.

Rivers should manage to get his arms going again, especially versus an injury-riddled Carolina defense that’s conceded 21 passing touchdowns this season, among the most in the league.

Expect the receiving trio of Tyrell Williams, Hunter Henry and Dontrell Inman, all of whom have at least two touchdowns under their belts, to be Rivers’ primary targets. Williams and Henry currently have a team-best of five scoring catches apiece.

Carolina: (4-8 SU,3-7-2 ATS)

There’s hardly anything good to take away for the Panthers in their 40-7 loss in Seattle on Sunday night. The only one positive thing was when QB Cam Newton found Ted Ginn Jr. for a 55-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, which made the game interesting for a little bit.

The Panthers’ supposedly fearsome run defense was quickly and easily dismantled by the hosts, who torched them for 240 yards, including 106 yards on 15 carries by RB Thomas Rawls. In total, the Seahawks produced a season-high of 534 offensive yards against a depleted Carolina D.

Newton, who finished 14 of 32 for 182 yards versus Seattle, will be desperate for a bounce-back performance when the Panthers return home to face San Diego. Expect the reigning MVP to rely heavily on his legs and RB Jonathan Stewart’s to move the ball forward against a Chargers defense that’s given up 15 rushing TDs on the season, the second-highest in the league.

Stewart leads the team with 461 yards rushing and seven touchdowns, while Newton is right behind him with 274 and five, respectively.
