About the Detroit Lions

Marvin Jones is turning out to be a hot replacement in daily fantasy football as Matt Stafford’s top receiver. Jones exploded for 205 receiving yards with two touchdowns on six catches Sunday against Green Bay. Stafford passed for 385 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. The Lions offense should be in full swing next week considering that the Bears’ pass defense is among the worst in the league. The Lions’ defense, has had trouble stopping the run and gave up 123 rushing yards to the Packers.

About the Chicago Bears

Without Jay Cutler, the Bears still lost to the Cowboys, 31-17, on Sunday night. Replacing Cutler was Brian Hoyer, who passed for 317 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions on 30 of 49 completions.

The good news for the Bears is they will be going against a Detroit defense that is ranked 21st in the NFL. That ranking is actually a little higher than I would give them because they played a game against a Titans team that found ways not to score.

Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears Prediction

Brian Hoyer replaced Jay Cutler last week and the Bears looked better on offense than with Cutler. Obviously he doesn’t have his arm but he more than makes up for it with his decision making. The Lions defense was ripped apart by the Colts and Packers. While Hoyer is not in that category, injuries to the Lions secondary should reduce a poor secondary to an all out liability. On the other side of the ball, the Lions have an offense and can score on anybody. I am making two bets on this game. 50% on the over and 50% on the Bears +3.

Lions vs Bears Pick: Bears +3, Over 47.5
