Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings Pick 9-18-16 Sunday Night Football GBvsMIN

Vikings first regular season game in a brand-new stadium and it is against the Packers. A perfect way to break in U.S. Bank Stadium. Well, almost perfect. The Vikings starting Sam Bradford at quarterback Sunday isn’t how Minnesota envisioned the opening game.

Bradford, acquired for first- and fourth-round draft picks after Teddy Bridgewater was injured at the end of the preseason, took the majority of snaps in practice Thursday and is expected to start. The Packers really don’t need to prepare for Bradford as much as they do for Adrian Peterson. If they can stop him the the Vikings offense is toast.

About Green Bay Packers (1-0):

Talk about opposite ends of the discussion over who is your quarterback. Green Bay will start MVP Aaron Rodgers, who threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another in last week’s 27-23 victory at Jacksonville. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson, who missed the entire 2015 season after tearing a knee ligament, had a relatively quite debut with six catches for 32 yards. Aaron Rodgers was 20 of 34 passes for 199 yards and had touchdown passes to Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson.

In their last action, Green Bay was a 27-23 winner on the road against the Jaguars. They failed to cover the -4.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (549.5) was profitable news for OVER bettors.

The defense scored twice; a 77-yard interception return and 24-yard fumble return for touchdowns. This isn’t how Minnesota wanted to open the new stadium. They had plans for a playoff run and now those plans depend on Sam Bradford. When Bradford came out of college his big upside was accuracy but with the Rams his accuracy suffered as he got pounded week after week. His time at Philadelphia did nothing to change that image of him as a frail quarterback who just can’t get the job done. On the other side is one of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL. With Rodgers at quarterback the Packers always have a chance to win. Against the Vikings they will be going against a top defense and it will be up to Rodgers not to force things and take the opportunities that will come during the game.

The Packers only need to contain Peterson to win this game. While that isn’t easy they should be able to focus on him and make Bradford beat them. The Packers defense should be able to get Bradford to toss up a few questionable passes and I fully expect at least one interception from Bradford. I am putting my money on the Packers.
