Chiefs vs Patriots Pick & Preview

Kansas City Chiefs vs New England Patriots Preview

Julian Edelman was on pace for 108 catches when he broke his foot in Week 10 and with him, New England went 9-0 while averaging 32.5 points. Without him, the Patriots went 3-4 and averaged 18 points. Both Edelman and Danny Amendola will prove too quick for the Chiefs’ big corners, Sean Smith and Marcus Peters. The Pats also get linebacker Dont’a Hightower (knee) and left tackle Sebastian Vollmer (ankle) back from injury. And Brady (ankle) looked good dropping back to pass in practice Monday, having benefitted from a week off.

The injury news is worse for Kansas City, which could be without No. 1 receiver Jeremy Maclin. He suffered what ESPN’s Adam Schefter called a high ankle sprain in the 30-0 win over Houston. Even if he plays, he’s likely to serve mainly as a decoy. Maclin caught 87 passes for 1,088 yards and 12 touchdowns, while the second and third receiving options combined for 52 catches for 650 yards and three touchdowns.
