Falcons vs Browns Preview, Prediction, Pick

NFL Preseason Week 2

Atlanta Falcons 1-0 (1-0 ATS) at Cleveland Browns 0-1 (0-1 ATS)

When: 8:00 PM ET, Thursday, August 18, 2016
Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
Odds: Falcons +2.5, Browns -2.5
Total: 37

In week one of the NFL preseason the Falcons covered the spread against the Redskins and the game total went over. The Browns had a pathetic offensive effort, scoring just 11 points and failing to cover against the Packers.

About Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons Matt Schaub looked sharp in passing for 179 yards and leading the Falcons on three scoring drives in a 23-17 over the Washington Redskins in Week One of the NFL Preseason. Falcons rookie J.D. McKissic returned a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown to open the second half.

About Cleveland Browns

Robert Griffin went 4 of 8 for 67 yards with an interception. Not exactly stellar numbers for a quarterback who has already been named the starter for the season opener.¬† Josh McCown took over for Griffin and completed only one of four passes for 5 yards. Kessler, a third-round draft pick, replaced the injured Davis in the third quarter and completed both of his passes for 15 yards, but was sacked three times. Combine the lack of quality quarterback play with a depleted receiver corps and this offense won’t be getting better any time soon.

Falcons vs Browns Week 2 Prediction

The Browns are favored in this game and for the life of me I can not figure out why other than they are the home team. The Browns offense is horrid and will not be improving this week with most of the top receivers injured. The offensive line is mediocre and Griffin looked like last years Griffin and not the rookie star he once was. On the Falcons side they have a depth and quarterback that will allow them to play Schaub against some real scrub defensive backs. I have the Falcons winning this outright. My bet in on Atlanta +2.5
