Bears vs Patriots Preview, Prediction, Pick

Odds: Bears +4, Patriots -4
Total: 40.5

In week one of the NFL preseason these two teams had about as opposite showing as possible. The Patriots scored 34 points in their 12 point victory over the Saints, while the Bears offense was a no show in a 22-0 loss in Denver.

About Chicago Bears

When you get shutout in your first game of the season whether it is preseason or regular season it is an embarrassment. In the Bears shutout loss, Jay Cutler stayed in for three possessions. He completed three of four passes and was sacked twice. It didn’t seem to matter who played quarterback for the Bears as the offensive line looked like a sieve and they managed only 130 yards offensive. When Brian Hoyer got in he wasn’t much better and ended up with 81 passing yards and one interception.

About New England Patriots

Jimmy Garoppolo played well against the Saints, throwing for 168 yards and completing 11-18 attempts.  Expect more of Garoppolo as he needs to be ready for his four game start for the Patriots. James White and Malcolm Mitchell combined for 111 receiving yards on five catches.

Bears vs Patriots Week 2 Prediction

The Bears offense is not going to get better in one week. On the Patriots side of the ball look for Jimmy to get some more reps with the first stringers to get his timing down. Bill Belichick preseason totals history has a strong trend to the over with a result of: Over 51 Under 34 Push 0. I will be making three bets on this game. I am placing 45% of my money on the Patriots -4, 45% on over 40.5 and 10% on a parlay with the Patriots and the over.
