Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

Ryan torched Oakland’s defense for 396 passing yards on 26 of 34 completions with three touchdown passes and an interception. Ryan and the Falcons’ offense has been soaring thus far on the season, as they are first in passing yards per game (355.5) and second in total yards per contest (451.0). What can you say except Ryan has to be thanking the schedule maker for giving him two of the worst defensive secondaries in football back to back.

Atlanta’s offense is filled with play makers that should all pose a threat to the Saints defense, one that gave up 417 total yards to the Giants on Sunday. Jones isn’t the only one worthy of the attention of opposing defenses for Atlanta. Jacob Tamme has a team high 11 receptions for 126 yards and a score. However, it is Jones who paces the team with 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns through two games.

The backfield, meanwhile, features the combo of Devonta Freeman and the rising Tevin Coleman. Atlanta is averaging 95.5 rushing yards per game.

New Orleans Saints (0-2)

The defense remains utterly pathetic for the New Orleans Saints. One ray of home is that the Saints are 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five home games against Atlanta. The Saints are second to last in the league this year in total defense with 451.5 yards allowed per game. The Saints’ air defense was sliced open by Eli Manning, who despite not recording a passing touchdown, had 368 passing yards on 32 of 41completions.

As bad as the Saints defense is the Saints offense keeps rolling along. Drew Brees is enjoying his time under center in leading the Saints’ passing attack that ranks fourth in the league with 333.0 yards per game. Brees went 29-for-44 passing in the Giants game for 263 passing yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.

New Orleans running game has not been good enough to make defenses even consider the run. Last week they only had 41 rushing yards. Mark Ingram only had 30 rushing yards on nine carries. The good news for the Saints running backs is the Falcons are allowing 122.5 rushing yards per game.

Last Week Betting Recaps

New Orleans lost its last outing, a 16-13 result against the Giants on September 18. The Saints covered in that game as a +3.5-point underdog, while the 29 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

Last time out for Atlanta, they were a 35-28 winner as they battled the Raiders on the road. The Falcons covered in the match as a +4-point underdog, while 63 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors.

Falcons vs Saints Betting Prediction:

Did Matt Ryan pay the NFL schedule maker to have the Raiders and Saints on the schedule? He will put up numbers against the Saints just like he did against the Raiders. An easy 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns. What will the Saints do? Well, last week Manning had a good day against the Falcons secondary and Drew Brees is a better quarterback and the Saints offense is a better offense than the Giants. 53.5 points is a lot but, if you believe both quarterbacks will have at least 3 touchdowns each that would 42 points right there. Throw in 3 or 4 field goals and a rushing touchdown and before you know it you are looking at 60+ points in the game. On the side the Saints play the Falcons well at home. This game will be a shootout and could come down to the last series. I am taking the points as long as I can get 3 or more. If it drops below three then I would layoff the side bet and just take the total.

Falcons vs Saints Betting Pick: Over 53.5 & Saints +3
